How to Check for Software Updates on MAC OSX

Apple frequently releases software updates to keep your system updated to continue to run smooth. MAC OSX’s Software Update checks for available updates and allows you to select the updates you want to install. It is recommended that you install all the updates provided in the list but it’s not necessary.

This tutorial will show you how to check for a Software Updates manually and configure the frequency MAC OSX checks for Software Updates.

Manually Check for Software Updates

  1. Click the Apple icon located on the top left.
  2. Click Software Update.

Configure how often MAC OSX checks for updates.

  1. Click the Apple icon located on the top left.
  2. Click System Preferences.
  3. In the System section click Software Update.
  4. Next to Check for Updates you can adjust the frequency.
