How to disable or enable Windows Vista Firewall


Windows Firewall is a critical first line of defense to protect your computer against many types of malicious software. Properly configured, it can stop many kinds of malware before they can infect your computer or other computers on your network. Windows Firewall, which comes with Windows Vista, is turned on by default and begins protecting your computer as soon as Windows starts. The Windows Firewall Control Panel is designed to be easy to use, with several configuration options and a simple interface.

Here are instructions on how to disable or enable your Windows Vista Firewall.

  1. Click the Windows Logo on the bottom left to get your menu.
  2. Click Control Panel.
  3. Click Windows Firewall. (*Control Panels in Classic View)
  4. Click Turn Windows Firewall on or off or Click Change Settings.
  5. Click on or off.
  6. Click Apply.
  7. Click Ok.  Your all done!
